CREDENTIALS

In the Iota Bulldogs' season-opening victory against Iowa, senior running back Luke Doucet picked up from where he left off a year ago as he rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns.

"The line did good," said Doucet, whose Bulldogs will play host to Welsh at 7 p.m. on Thursday. "I couldn't have done it without them. They opened up the holes and coach called the good plays."

For his efforts, Doucet has been named The Daily Advertiser's Football Player of the Week.

"The guys upfront did a good job of blocking," Bulldogs head coach Josh Andrus said. "But there were runs where he made something out of nothing. So the key to his success was a combination of his work ethic and the offensive line."

BACKGROUND

As a junior, Doucet had an exceptional season as he rushed for 2,367 and 26 touchdowns on 224 carries to help the Bulldogs reach the Class 3A semifinals.
