GAME PREVIEW: Frisco Liberty and Lone Star gear up for a rivalry match

One of the many cross-town rivalries happening in week six of Texas High School Football includes Frisco Liberty and Frisco Lone Star facing off in a district matchup. VYPE DFW dives into these two teams and lays out what fans can expect heading into this Thursday pairing:

Frisco Liberty Redhawks (0-5, 0-3)

The Redhawks are searching for their first victory this season. The team posted a winless season last year and wants to avoid the same outcome this season. In tough battles through non-district play Frisco Liberty lost to Corsicana (31-10) and Greenville (35-2) before entering their district schedule. So far in district, the Redhawks have battled hard against other Frisco schools and haven't been able to pull ahead. The Redhawks have fallen to Frisco High (35-0), Frisco Heritage (37-14), and Frisco Reedy (58-0) this season.

Led by Lincoln Daniel, Khaleb Cooper, Jack Nickell, Daniel Essien, Landon Reygades, Amajay Lavender, Kiran Simon, Brian Chandler, Zein Amer, and others, this team knows how to make big defensive plays when it's necessary. Alongside a focused defense, the offense has what it takes to kick it into high gear if they get in the right groove-- they will be looking to do this on Thursday night against Lone Star.

Frisco Lone Star Rangers (3-1, 2-0)

After a season-opening 41-37 loss against Texas High, the Frisco Lone Star Rangers put their game into high gear for a 42-7 victory over Burleson to close out their non-district play. As the team entered matches against district opponents, they continued to battle posting a home-opening 35-32 victory over Frisco Reedy. Following a BYE week, the Rangers recorded a 35-31 victory over Frisco Wakeland last week. As they continue into district play, they will look to distance the scores each game.

Led by Davian Groce, Rece Hoyt, Collin Blackstock, Winston Pollard, Bryson Jones, Massimo Russolillo, Johnny Yanez, Nicholas Viveros, and others, the Lone Star Rangers know how to set the tone upon entering each of their games. They battle through difficult moments and secure important victories.

What To Expect

Last season, Lone Star defeated Liberty 69-14. This season, the team will look to post a similar score. Looking to add some distance between their opponents and themselves, the Rangers are ready to battle through the rest of their district play. However, with a fire and determination to secure their first victory of the season, Frisco Liberty is going to do whatever it takes to put up big stops on Thursday night.

Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. at The Star in Frisco.
