THE HIERARCHY: FINAL VYPE DFW Volleyball Rankings (Pre-Playoffs); McKinney North, Keller sneak into Top-5
Momentum means everything this time of year — and across the Dallas-area, plenty of programs are finding it at just the right moment. As of the end of October, the regional pecking order has begun to settle, though a few contenders still have time to make their case before brackets lock in.
Byron Nelson’s dominion is as prevalent as ever. The defending 6A-DII State Champions have stretched their win streak to 70 straight matches, standing at 34-0 while conceding only eight total sets in that span — three of those this fall. That kind of sustained precision has turned the Trophy Club trailblazers into a nationwide measuring stick.
Two familiar 6A challengers, Southlake Carroll (26-5) and Keller (28-6), are among the few to have taken a set off the Bobcats this year — no small feat — while Allen (33-5) and Plano West (25-5) have also positioned themselves well for extensive playoff runs toward the Curtis Culwell Center.
At the 5A level, McKinney North (31-3) headlines the conversation after its memorable State Final appearance last fall.
The Bulldogs look every bit capable of another charge, though programs like Aledo (35-2), Highland Park (34-8), Argyle (31-3), and Frisco Liberty (29-4) each bring enough firepower to disrupt the order – depending on how the divisions are split.
Even beyond the Top-10, the competitive depth is unmistakable. Mansfield (42-1), Flower Mound (32-7), and Duncanville (34-6) in 6A — along with Walnut Grove (30-7), Wakeland (23-7), and Lovejoy (27-12) in 5A — all linger as postseason wildcards capable of flipping any bracket.
And with every rally from here on out carrying real weight, the margins separating DFW’s powerhouses have never felt slimmer.

THE HIERARCHY: Updated VYPE DFW VB Rankings; Allen, Carroll, Lovejoy among elevating clubs
The high school volleyball season in Dallas-Fort Worth is off to a blistering start, and the latest VYPE Top-10 reflect a region stacked with elite programs in both Class 6A and 5A.
At the top, Byron Nelson continues to set the standard. The Bobcats, sitting at a flawless 22-0, have shown no signs of slowing down as they enter September undefeated and largely unchallenged.
Close behind, Allen (23-1) and Southlake Carroll (15-3) round out a 6A-heavy top tier. Allen’s deep roster and early wins over several ranked opponents have solidified its place as a state contender, while Carroll's only setbacks have come in tight matches against other ranked teams.
Keller (18-3), Plano West (14-3), and Mansfield (29-1) have also staked their claim in a crowded 6A field, with Mansfield in particular emerging as a quiet powerhouse with the most wins of any team in the rankings.
On the 5A side, perennial power Lovejoy (17-6) remains a threat despite a few early-season hiccups, with their strength of schedule arguably more demanding than most. Aledo (22-2) and McKinney North (18-3) have surged forward with impressive starts, while Frisco Liberty (16-3) continues to trend upward as a possible dark horse in postseason play.
Beyond the Top-10, several teams are positioning themselves for a breakthrough. In 6A, Duncanville, Hebron, and Flower Mound are names to watch, while 5A contenders like Argyle, Highland Park, and Wakeland could shake up the rankings in the coming weeks.
With district play just around the corner, expect even more shifts as the region’s deepest programs begin to collide. For now, though, Byron Nelson and Allen have established themselves as the teams to beat in DFW.
