McKinney High relying on youth for run to postseason

Wes Watson has been pacing the sidelines at McKinney High School for 19 years.

He's seen it all and has weathered the ups and downs of coaching. Last year, McKinney didn't make the playoffs and Watson wants to get the Lions back in the conversation.

"It was disappointing," he said. "We missed it by one game. We got some things corrected and are looking forward to district play."

Back in the huddle are a pair of sophomores Alex Anamekwe (Freshman of the Year) and Devin Vincent (all-district), who are the cornerstones of the program. Need leadership? Call on Lucas Palenzuela.

"There are eight playoff-caliber teams in our district, so we have our work cut out for us," he said.
