Lake Travis Not Skipping A Beat With Yarnell Under Center

By VYPE Media's Olivia Jones.

After Lake Travis senior quarterback and University of Texas at Austin commit Hudson Card suffered a foot injury that cost him most of the 2019 Texas high school football season, junior quarterback Nate Yarnell was ready to step in. With Card's injury coming in October, Yarnell had just a few weeks to prepare for the playoffs. When asked about "the transition", Yarnell credits the veteran quarterback by saying "Hudson made [it] easy."

The playoffs bring a lot of pressure, but Yarnell is ready and confident in his team.

"The past three weeks have been so fun to be able to get out and compete with a fantastic group of people," Yarnell said.

Yarnell further explained that being surrounded by a strong support system on the field has made the experience easier.

Lake Travis now heads into the UIL 6A Division I Region IV championship against Converse Judson on Saturday December 7th. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and the game will be played in San Antonio at the Alamodome. Both teams are 12-1 on the season, and Yarnell and his Cavalier teammates are ready for this weekend's playoff game. They are focused on continuing to improve and get better through the end of the season.

Yarnell has received FBS offers from both the University of Houston and Tulsa. In regards to his recruiting, Yarnell said he is focusing on this season and is excited to face the great teams that are ahead. This weekend's regional championship will be a great matchup and an opportunity for Yarnell to showcase his talent. No matter the outcome of this season, Lake Travis will have an experienced quarterback for the 2020 football season.
