The Whataburger Boys Team of the Year: North Shore back on top of Texas football world

The North Shore Mustangs earned the Whataburger Team of the Year honors from VYPE after winning their sixth UIL State Championship in December 2025 by defeating Duncanville.

The VYPE honor recognized the Mustangs' incredible playoff run under head coach Willie Gaston, which culminated in another state banner for the program.

After dropping two games in the regular season to South Oak Cliff and Summer Creek, the ‘Stangs roared through the playoffs to get on top of the state rankings again.
