Welcome to the 2020 volleyball season. What a weird offseason it was for everyone. No club tournaments to travel to, limited training available but what that means is everyone should be fresh for the 2020 campaign.

Few softball teams in Texas are as scorching as Tomball right now. The surge is hardly surprising, especially after last season’s breakthrough run that carried the Cougars four rounds deep into the postseason.

What makes their rise even more notable is how recent it’s been. After years of finishing just outside the playoff picture, the group has transformed into a bona fide contender with Alyssa Thompson now in her third season at the helm.

The John Cooper School has named Dylan Halloran to lead the Dragons Women's Lacrosse Program.

Halloran was a star lacrosse player at Kingwood and then went on to play at Hartford before finishing her collegiate career at Xavier.

Whataburger Team of the Week: Katy Surges Toward State After Spectacular Regional Semifinal Victory

If there was any lingering doubt that this year’s Katy squad (34-5) is a legitimate title contender, last week’s emphatic series sweep over defending 6A Division II State Champion Kingwood erased it. The Tigers dispatched the reigning champs with a pair of similar victories.

Game 1 remained deadlocked at 1-1 through seven innings Thursday before Katy erupted in extras behind RBI doubles from Nevaeh Phillips (2 RBI), Libby Hroch, and Haley Schmitt (2 RBI). The late offensive surge proved decisive, powering the Tigers to a 6-2 victory in eight innings.
