PLAY BALL: No. 5 Fulshear softball all charged up
No. 5 Fulshear Chargers
Last year, Fulshear went 25-11 overall and reached the Area Round of the playoffs.
Seven starters return, including Oklahoma State-commit Gabriella Castillo, who is coming off a year where she was named the District Offensive MVP. Castillo hit .580 with 15 triples, 16 stolen bases and drove in 28 runs.
Alanna Routt (Murray State-signee) was the District Co-Pitcher of the Year after posting a 1.02 ERA with 167 strikeouts a year ago, while Nicole Cambric (Concordia University-signee) was named first-team, all-district after hitting .395 with 23 RBIs.
Other players to watch include Ryan Stratman (.510, 17 SB, first-team, all-district) and reigning District Rookie of the Year Ava Galaviz (.423, 33 RBIs, 4 HR).
Keys to success for Danielle Parker’s crew include “pitchers staying dominant in the circle” and “using the speed of our lefties”.
