Former Seven Lakes' cheer captain named TGCA Cheerleader of the Year; watch the pod
Aubrey Lutterman of Seven Lakes was named the Cheerleader of the Year
Seven Lakes Cheer has become an elite program in competitive high school cheer circles over the past several years under the direction of coach Amy Weaston.
One of her star captains earned the highest honor -- the Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) Cheerleader of the Year.
"Over her past four years at Seven Lakes, Audrey Lutterman has demonstrated an incredible, well-rounded commitment to both her classroom and community," Weaston said. "She graduated high school with a rigorous schedule of 15 AP courses where she earned both AP Scholar with Honor and AP Scholar with Distinction recognition, and received a College Board National Recognition Award. She was a member of many clubs, including Best Buddies, National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Science National Honor Society, and she completed over 100 volunteer hours."
Now at the University of Florida, Lutterman is studying Biology with hopes of going to med school.
VYPE's Matt Malatesta caught up with the former Spartan to talk about the impact of cheer on her high school career and even today.

The TGCA is a statewide professional organization serving girls' athletic coaches in Texas. Its individual athlete awards recognize exceptional student-athletes across the state.
What makes this recognition particularly special is that, historically, TGCA selected one Cheerleader of the Year from conferences 1A–6A, making this an exceptionally selective statewide honor.
This is distinct from an All-State selection. Rather than being one of a group of recognized athletes, our cheerleader received the individual Cheerleader of the Year distinction.
This achievement deserves recognition not only for the individual student-athlete but also for Seven Lakes High School and our cheer program. It represents an extraordinary level of statewide recognition for one of our students and is an accomplishment of which our entire school community can be proud.
