Among the select few organizations that can be considered the “gold standard” in H-Town, Fulshear delivered another strong showing last fall. Even with a relatively young roster, the Chargers finished 34-11, a run that ultimately ended in the Regional Semifinals against eventual 6A Division I runner-up Dawson.

Rest assured, Fulshear remains firmly in the State conversation under head coach Sydney Zimmerman.

THE SETUP: No. 5 Clear Springs | VYPE Houston Volleyball 2026 Preseason Rankings

The featured standouts of the 2026–27 Clear Springs Chargers volleyball team.

Fresh off a fourth straight district title, Clear Springs closed 2025 at 35-11, falling to Dawson in the Area Round. The Eagles later turned that win into an unprecedented run to the UIL State Tournament. It may be a hot take, but the Chargers appear next in line to take a similar step forward. Region III is shaping up to be a free-for-all in November, but this roster feels too loaded to anticipate anything less.

The most dangerous weapon in head coach Shannon McClellen’s arsenal remains defending District MVP Caylee Young. Now a senior, the Texas Tech commit posted 518 kills, 383 digs, and 728 serve receptions.

Camille Csernik didn’t take the traditional path to becoming a complete weapon on the Texas volleyball scene—but she’s arrived all the same.

At Klein Oak, that arrival has come at a pivotal moment in the program’s ascension. Collectively, the Panthers turned in an impressive 36-13 campaign a season ago, finishing second in the district standings behind Tomball before a tough opening-round playoff loss to Bridgeland. Even so, the foundation of a contender was clear—and so was Csernik’s impact.

THE FAMILY BUSINESS: Tomball’s Hopkins has been competing since birth

The bar has always been set high for Tomball’s Gemma Hopkins.

It started with older sister Lily Hopkins, who played at Tomball and still plays college ball at Texas-Arlington. Then came Catcher Hopkins, who has won a pair of state titles for Tomball baseball and is headed to play for Texas A&M.
