THE TRIPLE-THREAT: Three-Sport Witschonke Is The Definition Of Student Athlete

SENIOR OWEN WITSCHONKE IS A TRIPLE THREAT ON THE WARRIOR FOOTBALL TEAM, JUGGLING ROLES ON OFFENSE (WIDE RECEIVER), DEFENSE (SAFETY) AND SPECIAL TEAMS (KICKER); BUT OWEN’S TALENTS EXTEND FAR BEYOND THE FOOTBALL FIELD.

He is also a triple threat in CCS athletics, participating in a sport every season – football in the fall, basketball in the winter and track & field in the spring.

Over the past three years, Witschonke has played a pivotal role in state championship victories in both football and track & field. His accomplishments speak volumes about his dedication and skill.

Being a multi-sport athlete in high school can be incredibly demanding. Owen, however, has cracked the code to success. He’s developed a rock-solid work ethic and maintains a steady daily routine that keeps him on top of his game both on and off the field. He hits the practice field every day, and immediately after, he dives into his homework and studies.

This disciplined schedule grants him balance and allows him to indulge in his other passions, such as watching sports and serving as a small group leader in his church’s junior high ministry.

Additionally, he is a Bible study leader with other high school seniors. A verse that holds particular significance in Owen’s life is 1 Timothy 4:12, which states, “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.”

Owen credits Coach Kris Hogan with helping him find his place on the football team. During his freshman year, Owen’s role was somewhat limited, primarily relying on skills honed from his soccer playing days to kick for the team.

However, in his sophomore season, Coach Hogan instilled a newfound belief in Owen’s abilities and encouraged him to believe in himself and his abilities. He entrusted Owen with roles on both sides of the ball and special teams, elevating him to the status of starting safety in addition to his role as the team’s kicker.

Owen has risen to the challenge ever since.

Coach Hogan reminds the team often that they wear the word Christian on their chests and not to forget Who they represent. He consistently emphasizes to his team that they represent not just a football team but a Christian community. He instills the importance of building strong character alongside the pursuit of championships.

In Owen Witschonke, we witness this philosophy in action, as he shines brightly as a beacon of both athletic talent and unwavering integrity on and off the field.
