STATE WRAP: Kingwood girls; Klein Oak's Boyd star at UIL Cross Country

This past weekend, the UIL Cross Country meet concluded with several Houston-area teams placing in the Top 10 state-wide.

In the 6A boys' division, Klein Oak’s Jack Boyd finished second overall, Atascocita’s Oliver Maldonado was third, and Strake Jesuit’s Reese Vannerson came in eighth.

Comprehensively, The Woodlands team ended the competition fourth overall, Atascocita in fifth, Bridgeland in ninth and Strake Jesuit finished in 10th.

At the 6A girls' meet, the only Houston-area runner to place in the Top 10 was Pearland’s Madison Peters. However, the final team placements ended with Kingwood taking the third-place spot, The Woodlands at fifth, Klein in sixth, and Bridgeland finishing in eighth place.

For the 5A boys' division, only Lake Creek’s Carter Gordy came close to the Top 10 by clinching the 12th spot. In the final team placement, Georgetown placed forth, while Lake Creek finished 10th.

Finally, in the 5A girls' competition, there wasn’t nearly as much action, as the highest-ranking Houston team was Magnolia in 12th place.
