BREAKING: 2027 Cy Falls four-star Edge Kaden McCarty commits to Texas A&M
2027 Cypress Falls four-star Edge rusher Kaden McCarty has announced his commitment to Texas A&M.
The four-star edge was VYPE’s No. 3 player in the ‘Super 60’ of the City-Wide Football magazine and is ranked as the number 11 edge in the country and number 10 player in Texas by 247Sports.
McCarty chooses the Aggies over Houston, Texas Tech, Baylor and Texas among others. The relationships the Texas A&M staff built with McCarty and his family played the biggest factor in his decision.
“I would say the connection that the staff build my family and the amount of guys that they've been able to develop and put in the league,”" McCarty said on choosing A&M. “I'm a big, big, big relationship guy, and for their head coach to have a big relationship with my parents, it stood out for me. Coach Elko’s wife has also made a big relationship with my family and that's just big for me.”
Texas A&M has been consistent putting top defensive prospects into the NFL which also played a factor in McCarty’s commitment.
“That's definitely another thing that played a big part in my decision. This year, they got Cashius Howell, a lot of guys on the interior D-line as well. Rylan Kennedy, Von Miller, Myles Garrett, Edgerrin Cooper… really defensive guys all over the field that they've been able to put in the league,” he said. “That's the A&M standard, big defensive team. Coach Elko has a really, really good defensive mind, probably one of the best in the nation right now so that's really one of the things that you can't skip out on.”
With his commitment out of the way, the four-star is ready to prepare for his Senior year and develop his game even more.
“Getting bigger,” he said. “That’s really the main thing I want to work on is just getting bigger while maintaining my speed and quickness to keep perfecting my game.”
As his attention is now turned towards the offseason and helping recruit to Texas A&M’s 2027 class, McCarty had one last message for Aggie fans on his commitment.
“This is home. We’re coming strong and y’all are going to get the best out of me”.

THE LAYUP LINE: No. 12 Cy Falls Eagles
No. 12 -- CYPRESS FALLS GOLDEN EAGLES
After a 12-year District Championship drought, Cy Falls made a statement in 2025, going 28-6 overall and 13-1 in district play.
Coach Larissa Leal – now in Year No. 4 – guided the team to the Regional Semifinals and now looks to carry that winning mentality into this year’s outing.
Once again, the Golden Eagles will be headlined by TGCA All-State selection and 17-6A Co-MVP Dazlyn McClenon, who averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals per contest last season. Giselle Jackson – also a TGCA All-State pick and first-team, all-district honoree – piles onto the production, after posting some exceptional stats (14 ppg, 3 apg, 3 spg).
Andrea Vital (second-team) is another player to consider, as the roster prepares to maintain its competitive edge.
“Keys to this season are establishing leadership early, using preseason and early games to develop depth quickly, and playing to our strengths,” Leal said.
With returning talent and a championship mindset, Cypress Falls is ready to go “All In” in 25-26, aiming to defend its district crown and expand on their postseason success.
