Cy-Fair, George Ranch win 2019 VYPE-Aldine ISD Holiday Hoops Classic presented by the United States Marine Corps

HOUSTON - By the end of the two-day inaugural VYPE-Aldine ISD Holiday Hoops Classic only two teams finished the weekend with a perfect record - Cy-Fair and George Ranch.

The George Ranch girls rattled off wins against La Marque (69-28), Eisenhower (75-31), Lutheran High North (56-40) and Houston Heights (67-58) to claim the Girls Championship. George Ranch was led by title game MVP Gabrielle Owens, while teammates Savannah Velazquez and Jaedyn Dunn were named to the All-Tournament team.

Clear Springs' Kylie Minter, Heights' Gracelynn Alvarez and Lutheran High's Geonna Waddell were also named to the VYPE All-Tournament Team.

On the boys' side, it was Cy-Fair's day.

Cy-Fair racked up wins against The Village School (48-46), St. John's (54-42), Langham Creek (46-30) and The Woodlands Christian Academy (71-46) to capture the Boys Championship. The Bobcats were led by title game MVP Evan Butts, while teammate Malik Nash was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Woodlands Christian Academy's Bakari LaStrap, Tompkins' BB Knight, Langham Creek's RJ Crawford and The Village School's Jordan Henderson were also named to the VYPE All-Tournament Team.

The inaugural VYPE-Aldine ISD Holiday Hoops Classic featured a field of 16 boys teams and 12 girls teams, public and private.
