COACH SPEAK: Second Baptist School's Resurgence Leads Them Back to the State Stage
It’s been a tale of two seasons for Second Baptist School.
After starting the year 1–5, the Eagles regrouped, got healthy, and refocused. The biggest boost came with the return of quarterback Canon Toon, and everything changed from there. SBS has gone 6–1 since his return — and more importantly, 3–0 in the postseason.
Now, the Eagles are headed back to the TAPPS 5A State Championship, where they’ll face All Saints Episcopal of Fort Worth. It’s a familiar matchup: the two programs met in last year’s title game, with All Saints coming out on top.
VYPE’s Matt Malatesta caught up with head coach Beck Brydon to break down Second Baptist’s resurgence and what it will take to bring home the State Title this time around.
