Driven toward Success: Weatherford girls soccer

The Weatherford Lady Kangaroos have been focusing on getting the job done each time they step on the field this season. After a long offseason or preparing for success, the team is back at it while securing several victories already. VYPE DFW takes a look at the season:

Rewind

Last season, the team went 15-6-3 overall (8-4-2 in district play) and finished fourth in their district standings with a short playoff appearance. Focused on resiliency and power, the team was able to secure several impressive victories over Little Elm, Irving, Boswell, North Crowley, South Hills, and more before falling to Southlake Carroll in the playoffs. Showcasing tremendous talent on the field, fans knew there was going to be more to come for Weatherford following work in the offseason.

This Season So Far

Preparing for success throughout the offseason, hard work is proving to pay off for the Lady Kangaroos. Opening their season with three consecutive victories and a 5-0-2 overall record so far, athletes like Toni Canada, Bri Lilly, Emma Dalferes, Angelina Kirilyuk, Jackie Barrientos, and others have helped pave the way at the start of this season. Defeating Wylie (1-0), Nimitz (3-0), Joshua (2-1), Wimberley (4-1), and Loyola College Prep (1-0) while also posting two draws, this team has remained focused on the moments ahead-- learning from every opportunity they have.

As the team looks ahead to the rest of the season, fans can expect this squad to continue putting in the necessary effort to secure more victories. Opening district play in just over a week, the team will face Crowley, Chisholm Trail, and L.D. Bell at the first leg of their district schedule. On the hunt for a convincing district run and a playoff spot, this squad is prepared to keep anything naysayers have to say out of their minds. Catch this team in action as they showcase their talent this season.

Their next game is the district opener at Crowley on January 23rd before hosting Chisholm Trail on the 26th!
