VYPE ATX/SATX Volleyball Rankings Week of 8.22

We are a couple of weeks into the volleyball season now, so how did our preseason rankings pan out? Are the teams still the same? What's changed? Head below to find out.

** Records come from maxpreps unless otherwise noted.

5A-6A: Pre-district is always an interesting times for all programs (from 5A-6A to private schools) with programs playing in tons of tournaments against tough competition. With that being said there was a ton of shake up in 5A-6A as only New Braunfels Canyon remains in the Top 5 from the preseason, moving up to number 2. O'Connor takes over the 1 spot with wins over Brandeis, Reagan, and Clark (twice). Clark moves in as well with their impressive resume as do Anderson and Alamo Heights.

On the outside looking in: Boerne Champion, Liberty Hill, SA Piper, Vista Ridge and Round Rock to name a few

1A-4A: We have 2 new teams in the 1A-4A Rankings as Pleasanton taking over the top spot with their only loss coming to Johnson City in their very first game of the season. Thrall, Johnson City and La Vernia all stay in the rankings with an impressive start to their seasons as well. Davenport makes their way into the rankings as well and will be a team to watch into the season.

On the outside looking in: Wimberley, Nixon-Smiley, Randolph, Cole, Floresville

Private Schools: While there is only 1 team new to the rankings, there has still been a shake up. For instance the new #1? That would be the new team of Hill Country School of Austin who is undefeated on the season. Cornerstone moves to #2 with an impressive 21-1 start and I would not be surprised to see them at #1 before long. Round Rock Christian looks just as dominant as last season, and while we couldn't verify the records of John Paul II, we know from their social media they have been having some success to start the season so they stay on as well.
