The No. 5-ranked Reagan Rattlers prepare to surpass their Regional Semis appearance from a year ago
THE TIER LIST: Final VYPE Baseball Rankings as teams gear up for the playoffs, brackets
With May just around the corner, it’s officially playoff time in Texas high school baseball.
District races have been decided, brackets are set, and now the road to Dell Diamond begins—with more hardware up for grabs in June.
New Braunfels (23-6) retains their top spot in the SATX rankings, though sharing the District 26-5A title with third-ranked Boerne-Champion (23-7). Both now enter separate postseason divisions with a chance to make deep runs.
In Class 6A, Clemens continues to live up to its billing as one of the region’s most formidable programs, edging San Marcos by a game in a competitive 29-6A race.
Reagan remains a serious contender as well, having once again dominated District 27-6A and looking to improve on last season’s Regional Semifinal finish.
At the 4A level, Davenport and Navarro headline the conversation after finishing in a three-way tie atop 26-4A with Wimberley, each posting 8-2 district records.
Additional programs to keep an eye on include Brandeis, Pleasanton, Johnson, O’Connor, Smithson Valley, and Steele.
As the postseason is officially underway, here’s a closer look at the top contenders from the San Antonio area poised to make noise in the weeks ahead.

THE TIER LIST: VYPE SATX Preseason Baseball Rankings; CTJ, O'Connor, Reagan begin on top
Despite what the weather may suggest, the spring edition of the UIL calendar has officially arrived, well into February.
As fans return to the ballpark, a new season of excitement begins, and the race to Dell Diamond is on.
In the San Antonio region, all eyes are on the SA Johnson Jaguars, who are fresh off a deep run to the 6A State Semifinals. With that momentum, they sit at No. 1 in our preseason rankings.
District rival Reagan is another team to watch after their impressive four-round postseason run last spring. O’Connor, ranked second, is also a force to reckon with, having reached the Region I Final.
Moving up from Class 4A, the Boerne Greyhounds are ready for a strong 5A campaign. After a successful season last year, they’ll be in the thick of the District 26-5A race, alongside New Braunfels, Boerne-Champion, Alamo Heights, and Tivy.
With so many talented teams, Region IV is shaping up to be loaded with contenders for a state championship run in the months ahead.
