Rebuilding Greatness: McKinney Lions women's basketball

Just a couple of seasons removed from an excellent second-place finish in their district, the McKinney Lions women's basketball team is rebuilding their team to be another team of greatness- another team on the rise to success. VYPEDFW takes a dive into the Lions' season so far and what fans can continue to expect from the program:

Last season, the Lions posted a 5-17 overall record and was unable to make a playoff appearance. The team was rebuilding after a strange year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite a record that wasn't desirable, the team was still able to post strong wins throughout their season. Some of their victories came from battles against Frisco Centennial, Flower Mound, school district rival McKinney Boyd, and more!

So far this season, the Lions have battled and clawed their way through their schedule while still posting great victories over some of their opponents. McKinney opened their season with a 56-51 victory over Plano West while posting over victories over the likes of Killeen Shoemaker, Colleyville Heritage, Huntsville, and more. The team will open up their post-holiday play on Tuesday, January 3 against Denton Braswell where they look to begin an uphill climb for the rest of their season. Fans can expect the Lions to continue to play hard on the court. Their offense is fast-paced and their defense is constantly on the hunt for any opportunity to help guide the team to a win.
