BREAKING: 2026 Cy Springs four-star ATH Paris Melvin Jr. commit to Houston
2026 Cy Springs (Texas) four-star athlete Paris Melvin Jr. has announced his commitment to the University of Houston.
Melvin picks the local Coogs over Arizona, Baylor, and Ole Miss among others.
For Melvin, the decision to commit to Houston came down to the staff showing Melvin how much of a priority he was to them.
“I started to see how much of a priority I was for them (Houston),” Melvin said. “Talking with my family we wanted to narrow it down and really find what the best fit was for me and the way Houston showed how much of a priority I am to them stood out and is why I committed.”
The Cy Springs star will get to play his college ball right up the road from his hometown and the ability to represent the city he loves means a great deal.
“It’s really an honor and a blessing to be able to represent the city I’m from at Houston,” he said. “I had the ability to go play at any school in the country but they say the best players in city stay in the city and now that I’m committed I plan on recruiting other guys in the city to join our class.”
The reigning District 16-6A MVP has his commitment locked in and is now ready to shift his focus towards his senior year and continuing to help change the culture at Cy Springs.
“It’s a blessing to finally be able to say I found my new home and go into my senior year with one thing on mind, helping my team win more game, win the district title, and going to the third round of the playoffs,” Melvin said.
Paris Melvin Jr. will be a name Houston fans should get to know fast once he arrives on campus but for now watch out for him and the Panthers next fall.
