THE HIERARCHY: VYPE SATX 2025 Preseason Volleyball Rankings; Harlan, Davenport among early favorites
As the 2025 high school volleyball season approaches, programs across the San Antonio area find themselves at a promising intersection of experience, momentum, and unfinished business. The latest regional rankings offer a snapshot of a landscape that remains both top-heavy and deep, with contenders spread across 6A, 5A, and 4A.
At the forefront is Harlan, returning after a 39-win season and a hard-fought run to the 6A-D2 Regional Finals. Canyon isn’t far behind after its own strong postseason push, while O’Connor will look to shake off a rare early playoff exit and reassert its usual dominance. Johnson, Reagan, and Brennan round out a 6A group loaded with experience and depth.
In 5A, New Braunfels leads the charge following a run to the Region IV Final, setting the tone for a group that also includes Pieper and Boerne-Champion—both coming off 30-win seasons and eager for deeper playoff pushes.
One of the region’s most intriguing storylines comes from Class 4A, where Davenport has steadily risen into statewide relevance. The Wolves reached the State Final Four last fall, and retain a seasoned roster ready for a similar run in 2025.
The path to State will once again be a grind—but several local teams look more than ready for the challenge.
