Hoppel completes perfect season with 2nd 800 national title

AUSTIN — Midland High grad and University of Kansas junior Bryce Hoppel completed a perfect collegiate season in emphatic fashion Friday.

Hoppel recorded the fifth-fastest time of 1 minute, 44.41 seconds in collegiate history to win the men's 800-meter final at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Hoppel finished the 2019 collegiate season with a 19-0 record, while claiming both the indoor and outdoor national titles in the 800.
