Parish Episcopal's Chase Burton signs with Texas A&M Football

Parish Episcopal has been known for producing some of the top football athletes in TAPPS. With signing season, parents, coaches, friends, and family members get to watch athletes make their dreams of playing at the next level a reality when they put pen to paper and sign their National Letter of Intent. The Panthers' senior wide receiver, Chase Burton, recently made his commitment to play at Texas A&M a reality. VYPE DFW was able to catch up with Burton in an exclusive interview!

Burton has been integral to the Panthers' program over the last four seasons as Parish Episcopal went back-to-back-to-back-to-back for four consecutive TAPPS Football State Titles. Burton told VYPE all about his time at Parish and what he is looking forward to as he prepares for the next level:

The decision to leave home isn't always an easy one. What impacted your decision to choose Texas A&M when considering your college career?
"A&M being close to home definitely had a big pull factor especially because of my relationship with my family. I wanted them to be able to see me play."

You've made quite the impact during your time at Parish Episcopal. What has been your favorite memory with the Panthers' squad?
"My favorite memory playing with Parish for the last four years has been being able to build a culture that expected excellence which ultimately led to us winning four-straight state championships."

When did you first start playing football? Who got you interested in the sport?
"I started playing football in first grade. My dad got me into the sport."

Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?
"The professional athlete that I look up to most is Julien Edelman because of the fight and skillset he had as an undersized receiver."

As you get ready to leave your high school career behind, what do you feel has been your biggest accomplishment?
"I feel like my biggest accomplishment throughout my high school career was being able to be a part of four teams that competed with the best of the best. No one can ever take away our four state championships in a row."

As you prepare for the NCAA, what are your main goals?
"My main goals are to be able to see the field and make an impact for my team within the first couple of years."

Do you have a game day routine that you stick to?
"I do the same thing pretty much every game. I listen to the same pregame playlist and eat the same meal every time."

What do you do in the offseason to make sure that your skills are sharp for the next season?
"I train a lot during the offseason. Whether that is in the weight room, speed work, or route running. I do a ton during the offseason because hat's where you separate yourself."

What has been your mindset headed into each season?
"My mindset going into each season has been: I want to win a state championship. I feel like if you don't have that mindset then you aren't setting yourself up for success."

In your opinion, what has been the secret to your success?
"I feel like the secret to my success has been being able to work hard and trust the process. Doing these two things has helped me become successful in the game of football."

In your opinion, what has been the secret to your team's success?
"The secret to my team's success over the last four years has been our ability and having good upperclassman leadership that establishes a winning culture. We have expected perfection the last four years and that is why we have been so dominant."

Burton is sure to make an impact in College Station when he joins the Aggies next Fall. Be sure to keep an eye on his career as he works hard to continue to be a dominant force on the field!
