Pflugerville ISD nabs Hargrave’s McEachern as AD

Huffman Hargrave athletic director/head football coach Mike McEachern was approved late Thursday night as the athletic director at Pflugerville ISD.

The district’s school board unanimously approved McEachern’s hiring in a board meeting. McEachern will oversee athletics for the district's four high schools and seven middle schools.

McEachern has been head football coach at Hargrave since 2006, compiling a 104-69 overall record. Over that same time, he was also Huffman ISD’s athletic director.

McEachern led Hargrave to a record of 29-6 over the last three seasons. In 2019, he led the Falcons to their first outright district title since 1984 and a program-record 11 wins. In 2020, the Falcons won an area playoff game for the first time.

In September, McEachern earned the 100th win of his coaching career, a 37-20 win over Navasota. The 2022 season will be his 20th year in coaching.

McEachern’s departure is the third coaching transaction in the Greater Houston area this week.

On Wednesday, Katy ISD hired Denton Ryan offensive coordinator Lonnie Teagle as head coach at Paetow High. Earlier Thursday morning, Montgomery ISD hired Spring head coach Trent Miller to lead Willis football.

McEachern’s daughter Kelsie is in her third season as head softball coach at Kingwood Park.
