The first half of the regular season is officially in the rearview mirror, and the Week 6 rankings come with a rare sight: a sizable portion of the region’s heavy-hitters are set for a well-earned midseason bye.
Allen continues to validate its consensus No. 1 ranking in Texas, with the Eagles improving to 5-0 after another one-sided victory. Averaging nearly 50 points per game, Allen has shown little indication of slowing down as district play moves forward. North Crowley, Waxahachie, Coppell and Southlake Carroll are also riding strong starts, while Duncanville gets a boost after blanking formidable district opponent Red Oak, 42-0.
The 5A ranks feature plenty of movement as well. Lone Star remains unbeaten at 4-0 after outlasting Melissa in a 35-30 classic, while Argyle also moves up following a convincing win over Grapevine. Anna, Celina, Timberview and McKinney North continue to add depth to an increasingly competitive classification.
Perhaps the most impactful result of the week, however, came from Arlington Martin. The Warriors’ 35-21 victory over perennial state contender Aledo could prove to be a defining moment this fall, and their perfect 5-0 start earns them a debut in the Top 20 alongside McKinney North (4-0). With most of the top teams taking the week off, the spotlight now shifts to those still in action.
