Cole comes off hardwood to lead FBCA's defense

Solomon Cole came out of the basketball gym this summer to put the pads on with hopes of helping his Fort Bend Christian Academy teammates get back in the win-column.

The Eagles are 3-1 already after not winning a game in 2018. Cole has played a huge role in the team's success in all facets of the game.

"I got on the field when I heard we got an entire new coach staff," he said. "I also came in with the mindset to get bigger and more athletic, so it could translate to the basketball court."

Cole has been a lockdown corner averaging three tackles per game, while flipping to receiver and returning kicks on offense.

"Football helps be more powerful in the paint and harder for people to guard on the basketball court," he said. "Basketball has helped me on the football field because basketball requires finesse. With finesse, that helps you move more smoothly on the field."

Cole is a talented point guard for the Eagles' basketball team, but he has other interests as well.

"I actually model for Naturally Fit Agency as one of my hobbies and I love working out in my free time," he said. "I'm always trying to get better than my opponents, so I have the confidence during the actual games to dominate anyone in front of me."

As a dual-sport athlete, Cole draws inspiration from his favorite players in their respective sports.

"I love watching Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry with the Browns and Jaylen Waddle for Alabama," he said. "Those guys have amazing footwork and make the game looks so easy.

"In basketball, I love watching Terry Rosier play because he is a true point guard. I also like Ja Morant because of how explosive he is."
