This was a historic year for Goose Creek Memorial boys' basketball! It was that break-through-the-glass-ceiling type year for the Patriots.
The Patriots reached the Regional Semifinals for the first time in program history led by District 22-5A Defensive Player of the Year Sam Bradford. The junior led the team with 18.1 points and 11.2 rebounds per game.
Baytown Sterling finished sixth in district going 7-14 (6-11) and Baytown Lee took seventh.

After a season filled with high expectations and dominant performances, the Fort Bend Marshall Girls Track & Field team delivered when it mattered most—claiming the UIL Class 5A State Championship this past weekend at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
Led by head coach Shahira Ehiemua, the Buffaloes lived up to their billing as title contenders, posting a team score of 60 points to edge out second-place Red Oak by six.
The victory marks a triumphant return to the top for a program that finished fourth at State just a year ago, showcasing both growth and resilience.
Marshall’s title run was fueled by a blend of individual talent and relay excellence.
Corie Wilmington earned silver in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.61 seconds, while Dior Williams placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 13.67 seconds.
Still, it was the collective dominance in the relays that sealed the championship.
The Buffaloes placed first in the 4x400-meter relay, second in the 4x200, and third in the 4x100—thanks to the combined efforts of Wilmington, Williams, Phoenix Glover, Jasmine Harris, Megan Thomas, Amira Mopkins, Brianna Brinkley, and Alaya Stewart.
With their impressive showing on the biggest stage, the Marshall team has been named the Whataburger Team of the Week—a well-deserved honor for a group that rose to the occasion and brought home gold.
Ridge Point three-star offensive lineman Hugh Smith has been one of the most recruited prospects in the city of Houston and today has locked in his commitment.
The 6’5 330lb OL has committed to Arkansas over Houston, and Arizona State among others.
For Smith, the relationships built between himself and offensive line coachEric Mateos really made the difference in making a commitment to the Hogs.
“Coach Mateos the O-line coach at Arkansas has been recruiting me for a year and a half since he was at Baylor and that relationship with him really was a big deal to me,” Smith said. “I love what coach Pittman and the program have to offer. The support and love you see from the town and across the State, it’s a different feeling than I’ve felt anywhere else.”
Arkansas was one of the lone SEC school’s that had an official visit set up with Smith and playing in the best conference in college football was a big draw for the talented offensive lineman.
“My goal has always been to get to the NFL and to do that you have to play the best of the best and that’s what you get in the SEC. It definitely played a big factor in my decision.”
Smith will also be going Ridge Point teammate, WR Robert Haynes IV in the Razorbacks 2026 class which is something he mentioned he’s excited about.
Now committed, Smith is ready to focus in on his Senior year and help the Panthers make a deep playoff run in 2025.
“This year has just felt different already this offseason,” Smith said. “I truly believe this is the year we can make it all the way to AT&T with the guys we have returning and the younger guys we have ready to step up.”
