Marshall (8-1 and 6-1 in District 11-5A Division II) lost only to district champion Manvel this year, and the Buffs will enter the playoffs next week vs. the 3rd-seeded playoff team out of District 12 (probably Crosby, Port Neches-Groves or Nederland, all of which are 4-2 in district play and sharing 2nd place in the standings entering the season's final week).
Marshall reached the state championship game at Arlington's AT&T Stadium last year, losing 55-19 to Aledo. It was Marshall's only loss in their 15-1 season.
