GALLERY: Prosper takes down Allen, looks for strong post-season run

It's not often that we see another team take down the Allen Eagles, but so far this season there have been two teams to do it: the Houston area's Atascocita and now Dallas area's Prosper. The Prosper Eagles put on a show on Friday night as they fought tirelessly to do what no other Dallas-area team has been able to do this season: take down the one and only Allen Eagles. The talk heading into the game on Friday was less about "if Allen loses then..." and more about "when Allen wins, it will set them up for their usual streak and put them in the position for an incredible streak. Prosper wasn't expected to beat Allen by many people as they suited up and took the field, but the Eagles in green proved every nay-sayer wrong.

Prosper's defense entered the game ready to get rolling against a usually-dominant Allen offense. Prosper held Allen off from scoring in the first quarter and was able to nab a touchdown of their own after getting through the Allen defense. Prosper scored one more time before half in the second quarter, but was unable to go into halftime ahead as Allen scored 17 unanswered points with two touchdown runs and a field goal. The stage looked like it was set up to see the usual Allen-dominant second half.

However, Prosper's defense used halftime to regroup and prepare to put up the battle of the season against Allen while Prosper's offense prepared to do what needed to be done in order to overtake the field and score for a win. Prosper stepped up in the middle of the third quarter with a 53-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Harrison Rosar to Tyler Bailey. Prosper's defense was able to do the most as they kept Allen scoreless in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Rosar found Hunter Summers for a 27-yard touchdown pass. The Prosper touchdown was immediately followed by an Allen Mike Hawkin's 58-yard touchdown pass to Jordyn Tyson, but an attempt at a two-point conversion failed leaving Prosper ahead 28-23. Prosper's defense continued to put a stop through the end of the game to take the win.

Prosper's win allows the Eagles to advance to a 6-3 overall record on the season (3-2 in district) with a No. 3 spot in their district standings... just behind No. 2 Allen and No. 1 Denton Guyer. The win also boosts their hopes for a successful run at the post-season. The Eagles will play McKinney Boyd on Friday as their last regular-season game where fans should expect the strong win over Allen to power the team to another great game.
