Prosper, Carrollton Creekview, Denton Guyer, Denton Ryan, Lucas Lovejoy, Melissa, Mesquite Poteet, and more had a great outing on the day. In team scores, Prosper athletes finished strong across the board. Prosper pulled the number one spots in women's varsity, women's junior varsity, and men's junior varsity. GALLERY: Denton Guyer defeats Prosper, looks ahead to State Semifinals
Posting an early lead over the Wildcats, Prosper showed an incredibly strong front throughout the first half of the game. With the defense doing everything to get their job done, the offense made sure to put up their own fight and post big scores. Prosper's defense was able to hold Denton Guyer's offense to only a field-goal in the entire first half while the Eagles offense put up two touchdowns- one in the first quarter and one in the second.
Coming into the second half, though, Guyer seemed to regroup and show up on the field as the team that the metroplex has seen all season and expected to see in the game. The Wildcats scored twice in the third quarter while holding the Eagles scoreless until the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter saw Prosper record a touchdown and follow up with an extremely strong two-point conversion, but Guyer was able to score two more times to close out the game.
The win allows Denton Guyer to advance to the State Semifinals where they will face-off against Tomball.
