'Best player in the state': 3 takeaways from Madison Central's win over Pearl

Madison Central head coach Anthony Hart watches a little college football when he can on Saturdays. Often, he compares the quarterbacks he sees to his own, Dandy Dozen Jimmy Holiday.

Hart said sometimes he feels like Holiday is just as good, if not better, than some of his collegiate quarterbacks. In a showdown of the top two teams in the Clarion Ledger Super 10, the senior put forth yet another outstanding game, running for four touchdowns and throwing for another.

Here are some takeaways from the No. 1 Jaguars' 34-21 win over No. 2 Pearl.

'Best player in the state'

Things got off to a slow start for Madison Central. The Jaguars went scoreless in the first quarter and for a moment it looked as if fans might be in for a defensive struggle. Then, Holiday took his fourth carry of the game straight up the gut of the Pirates' defense for an 82-yard touchdown.
