Hunting for a Repeat: Lake Highlands Wildcats

Last season was a storybook year for the Richardson Lake Highlands Wildcats boys basketball team. As they begin their campaign toward a repeat, VYPE DFW takes a look at the team and what fans can watch for this season:

Last season, the Wildcats posted a 34-3 overall record (16-0 in district) and even capped their season off with the UIL Class 6A Boys Basketball State Title. Through the regular season, fans watched as the Wildcats posted victory after victory including those over Dallas Hillcrest (81-49), Prosper (59-45), Mesquite Horn (80-43), Dallas Jesuit (72-47), Allen (81-68), Irving Nimitz (83-34), Richardson (69-47), Irving (105-24), and more. Once in the playoffs, Lake Highlands had no trouble putting hard work to the test as they defeated Bowie (81-43), Plano East (66-63), Arlington Martin (48-45), North Crowley (63-43), Byron Nelson (62-36), DeSoto (52-44), and finally Beaumont United (55-44) for the state title. Having outscored their opponents by nearly a combined 1,000 points on the season, the Wildcats are looking to do the same this year while adding to their legacy.

Despite opening their season with a loss to North Crowley (91-46), the team picked up the pace and has posted several strong victories over the likes of Hillcrest (84-48), Denton Guyer (44-38), Leander (58-56 in double overtime), MacArthur (61-50), Richardson Berkner (74-66) and more. Led by Ila Jehl, Syncere Anderson, Zolan Skinner, Charlie Moore, Josh Kondoba, Beck Johnstone, Lewis Racine, and others, this team can be expected to continue showcasing their ability on the court as they move into the rest of their schedule. Be sure you catch them on the court as they look to repeat this season!
