2029 Shadow Creek ATH BJ Lafell is one of the hottest recruits not only in the city of Houston but across the nation as the freshman phenom holds 22 offers from the likes of LSU, Ohio State, Oregon and Texas to name a few.
Lafell is also a ironman athlete that competes at the varsity level in Basketball and Track as well and has seen interest from Houston, Texas State, PVAMU and Grambling State on the hardwood.
For Lafell, going through the recruiting process at such a young age has been truly a blessing.
"The recruiting process has been crazy talking to new coaches every week from basketball and football coaches," Lafell said. "It's just a blessing going through the process and looking to put in work this offseason for a big sophomore year next fall."
Lafell is the son of LSU legend Brandon "Jojo" Lafell who is also an NFL Veteran and Super Bowl Champion and being offered and recruited by his Dad's alma mater means the world to him.
"LSU just seems like home like how it's alway been," he said. "Being recruited by LSU with my dad being an LSU legend there is really great and is a real blessing."
Lafell is currently in the middle of the UIL 6A Basketball playoffs with Shadow Creek but mentioned he plans on working on his stamina, technique and getting stronger this offseason.
"I really want to build up my stamina for the football and basketball season next year," Lafell said. "I also want to work on my foot speed, footwork and just getting stronger."
Watch out for the freshman phenom from Shadow Creek this spring as he plans on visiting LSU, Oregon, Texas, Houston and Missouri for spring practice visits.
