V.R. Eaton Eagles Football looks to finish strong

As the season gets closer to wrapping up for the V.R. Eaton Eagles football program, VYPE DFW takes a look into the program and highlights just what fans can expect headed into their final two games of district play.

Looking Back

Last season, Eaton played strong and posted a 8-3 overall schedule (5-1 in district play) to finish second in their district. Despite a tough loss to Fort Worth Boswell in the first round of playoffs, the Eagles had nothing to be disappointed about. The team worked hard throughout offseason and summer workouts in order to do whatever it took to come into this season strong. The team recorded a hard-fought victory over non-district opponent Little Elm before entering district play. So far in district play, Eaton has recorded victories over Keller Central (45-17) and Keller Timber Creek (38-31).

Although this season might seem like it is going less-than-ideal for the Eagles, they have proven to be resilient- learning throughout each game, readjusting, and making sure to focus on the next moment ahead. Junior quarterback Noah Lugo has been a force for the Eagles- posting an average of 100 rushing yards per game and recording 11 touchdown passes this season. Sophomore wide receiver, Talan Holmes, has brought in seven of those touchdowns while Jaden Platt has recorded three and Mason Stubbe has recorded one. The defense has worked hard to keep opponents at bay this season. Salofi Aumoeualogo has caused two fumbles while Memphis Tieman and Joseph Frazier have both caused one.

What's To Come

V.R. Eaton has two games left this season- this week, the team will face-off against an 0-8 Haltom and next week the team looks to finish with a tough game against school district rival Trophy Club Byron Nelson. Fans can expect the defense to continue putting force against the opposing offenses while the Eagles offense works hard to continue honing in on their talents on the field. The team is looking to finish their season strong while learning from this battle-tested season.
