AREA ROUND PREVIEW: Byron Nelson vs. El Paso Eastlake

With the area round of playoffs underway, we have seen plenty of big plays already. One of the big games coming into Friday, though, is Trophy Club Byron Nelson vs. El Paso Eastlake on Friday night. Byron Nelson has fought all season to show just what Bobcat football is made of. VYPE DFW takes a deep dive into what fans can expect from this area-round pairing:

Byron Nelson Bobcats (8-3, 4-2)

The Bobcats finished third in their district, but didn't let that keep them from being motivated to play head-strong into the playoffs. So far in the playoffs, Byron Nelson has posted a big win over Weatherford. The Bobcats have played incredible defense all season- which has played a huge factor in keeping their season alive en route to the playoffs.

Junior quarterback Jake Wilson leads the Bobcats from the pocket. Wilson has tallied 29 passing touchdowns with nearly 3,000 passing yards so far this season and a 61% pass completion rating. Senior Michael Giordano will be another strong force on the field to watch for the Bobcats. Giordano has scored eight rushing touchdowns this season on 83 carries.

El Paso Eastlake Falcons (10-1, 6-1)

The Falcons are a strong team. Finishing second in their district, they have dropped only one game this season and it was against El Paso Franklin. They will look to put a stop to Byron Nelson on Friday. The team has had a nearly unstoppable defense who has held their opponents to a combined 196 points and their offense has been a force to be reckoned with.

The players Byron Nelson will have to keep their eyes on on Friday includes quarterback Sebastian Rendon and senior Elijah Uribe. Rendon has thrown 20 touchdowns on the season while Uribe has rushed for 22 touchdowns on nearly 1,700 rushing yards. The team is fast on their feet and will be looking to run away with it.

What to Expect:

El Paso Eastlake is going to want this win more than they've wanted anything all season. They have been strong and don't want to lose to Byron Nelson, but they just might be underestimating the Bobcats coming into this game. Byron Nelson is going to have to play smart defense and be prepared to score early and often to take this win.
