PREVIEW: Aledo football poised and confident for season ahead

Decorated with plenty of hardware, Aledo continues to be one of the best football teams that the state of Texas has ever witnessed. As they enter another season near the top of the VYPE DFW 5A Preseason Football Rankings, fans can expect nothing but the best from this team.

REWIND

Last season, the team opened on a rough start to eventual four-time TAPPS State Champions Parish Episcopal and Denton Guyer before pulling it together in district play. Defeating the likes of Justin Northwest (49-20), Azle (55-20), The Colony (52-7), Denton Ryan (35-21), and more, the Bearcats finished district play with an undefeated 8-0 record.

Despite their season-opening two losses, Aledo outscored their opponents by a combined 694-261 points on the season. With a strong playoffs appearance, the team sent others home as they trampled their way to the state title matchup. Defeating Killeen Shoemaker (37-0), Lubbock-Cooper (45-21), Midlothian (27-21), Burleson Centennial (42-21), and Longview (17-14), Aledo found themselves in the state finals against College Station. With a convincing 52-14 victory over College Station, Aledo brought yet another championship trophy home.

LOOKING AHEAD

The team is set to begin non-district play against Parish Episcopal at home on August 25th with another showdown against Denton Guyer before entering district play. In district play, fans can expect Aledo to pull out all the stops and dominant in every area of the game from IQ, speed, and agility, to focus, grit, and strength. The fans can expect a deep playoff run from this squad; if not another state title.

Kai Taylor, Eric Canales, Hauss Hejny, Blake Burdine, Kutter Harrell, Brody Adams, Skylar Kirk, Hayden Vandergriff, Brady Powell, Zach Reilly, and Logan Defranzo are just some of the athletes you should keep your eyes on this fall as the Bearcats hit the road to state.
