It’s no surprise that Tomball has carried its momentum into the postseason. While a pristine 36-0-1 record suggests overwhelming control, the Cougars haven’t simply cruised past the competition.
That reality was on full display in last week’s Area Round series against Oak Ridge High School, where Tomball secured the sweep but was pushed in both contests (4-2, 7-2). Each game demanded depth, composure, and the ability to win a battle of attrition — traits that continue to define this run.
Senior CJ Sampson’s aura-filled strut — capped by a gesture urging the crowd to bring the noise after stranding multiple Oak Ridge runners in scoring position late in Game 2 — felt like a snapshot of Tomball’s season. Injuries, adversity, and outside doubt haven’t shaken this group; Cougar Nation remains unfazed, aware of its potential without tipping into overconfidence.
