VYPE U: The Ridge Point Panthers Making History

From District champs, to Bi-District Champs, to Area Champs. The Ridge Point Panthers defeated the Bellaire Cardinals in the second round of playoffs to advance to the Regional Quarterfinals for the first time in school history.

The Panthers finished district with a 13-1 record. After, a loss to Fort Bend Bush in the first round of district, the Panthers applied pressure to every team since then.

Not only did the Panthers win district for the second year in a row, the team also had some individual accomplishments during the regular season. Junior point guard Raven Adams hit 500 career assists, junior shooting guard Aleighyah Fontenot hit 1,000 career points, and Head Coach Michael Vitek and senior shooting guard Marchelle Willis hit 100 career wins with the Ridge Point program.

Going into the first round of playoffs, everyone knew the Panthers were an offensive team. They have shooters across the floor, they can push the ball, and they are also able to get to rim at anytime. Their game against Seven Lakes showed a different story. The Panthers used their defense to create great offense on the other end of the floor last Tuesday night. The Panthers rotated well on defense not allowing Seven Lakes to score at all during the 4th quarter, winning the game 46-25.

The second round was a show against the Bellaire Cardinals last Friday. The Panthers had solid defense and even more solid offense throughout the entire game. The Panthers took care of the Cardinals, 71-30.

As Coach Vitek said in his post game speech "I am proud of y'all, but we are not done yet."

The Panthers next game will be tonight at 5:30 against Cy Fair at Delmar Stadium.
