VYPE ATX 411: Drayden Dickmann

Recently, Drayden Dickmann won the VYPE ATX Public School Preseason WR of the Year Fan Poll. Dickmann and the Georgetown Eagles are off to a 2-0 start and have a big game against Liberty Hill this Friday. Before then I caught up with Dickmann to ask a few questions heading into the season.

VYPE: Talk to me about last season for you first, had a pretty good year, what did you work on in the offseason to get ready for this season?

DICKMANN: Last season was a fun season, not the type of record we wanted though (6-6), but I had a great time balling out with the guys. A big thing for me in the off-season is running track, it’s a big part of me keeping my speed and all that.

VYPE: Now on to you, who do you try and emulate your game off of?

DICKMANN: I try to emulate my game off of Steve smith Sr., I just admire is drive and he’s got that dawg in him so I try to always be like him.

VYPE: Georgetown got to the 2nd round last season and you're in a slightly new district this year. What are you most looking forward to this season?

DICKMANN: The district this year is definitely one of the most competitive in the state in my opinion, lot of great teams like A&M Consolidated and College Station that are gonna be some competitive and physical games.

VYPE: What are some personal goals for you this season?

DICKMANN: Some personal goals of mine are to get over that 1k receiving yards mark.

VYPE: Talk to me a little bit about your commitment to Rice. What was it about Rice that swayed you in their direction.

DICKMANN: Rice really felt like home to me. The coaches, players, the campus, the education. Houston really gave me a good vibe.

VYPE: You've started off pretty strong to the season so far. What do you contribute that to?

DICKMANN: I contribute my success to my teammates, coaches, trainers, my family.

VYPE: What is your pre-game routine?

DICKMANN: My pregame routine is to drink a bottle of beet juice before I play.

VYPE: What has been your greatest memory as playing for Georgetown so far?

DICKMANN: My greatest memory so far at Georgetown was upsetting Dripping Springs last year in the first round, score was 63-56 and it couldn’t get any better than that, definitely the most fun I’ve had in a game ever.

VYPE: Finally outside of the game of football, what's one of your favorite things to do off the field?

DICKMANN: I love playing Xbox, music, and cars outside of football.
