Longtime coach Susan Kennedy’s message is simple: “Trust your team. Trust your coach. Trust yourself.”
That philosophy has helped Kennedy build one of Houston’s most coherent volleyball programs, and she expects it to continue paying dividends in the months ahead. The Mavericks are coming off another stellar campaign, finishing 31-12 overall and advancing to the third round of the playoffs.
Coordinating the attack this fall will be second-team all-district setter Hayden Urban, who will distribute to seniors Kamille Jackson and Kenley Pedescleaux—both all-district honorable mentions. Kennedy believes the key to the season will be tightening up defensively, and the Mavericks have the personnel to make that happen.
Senior Elise Headley, another honorable mention, and UMHB commit Madisyn Guikema are poised to stabilize the back row and provide consistency in serve receive and defensive coverage.
