THE POWER RANKINGS: Bowie holds off Vandegrift, Westwood in Austin area boys rankings
Bowie swept their two final non-district tuneup games to remain atop this week’s Power Rankings. Vandegrift – the only team to hang a loss on the Bulldogs -- held on for a gritty road win against #10 Vista Ridge to remain at #2 while Westwood dominated two 25-6A opponents to step over Westlake. East View, the highest-ranked 5A team, got an international win over Australia’s St. Kevin’s and a less exotic win over Copperas Cove to round out the Top 5.
There was minimal movement outside the Top 5. The next six squads all dropped at least one game last week, preventing anyone from making any advances. Further down, Buda Johnson and Hays climbed into the ranking with wins to rep Hays CISD.
Like the ladies, the boys have one more week of district play coming up before Christmas, followed by all the holiday tournaments before the new year. Here’s where things stand as we close in on the end of 2025.
