WEATHER DELAY PREVIEW: Southlake Carroll and Keller to battle it out Friday at 2 pm

It was supposed to be a Thursday night battle of the unbeatens between the Southlake Carroll Dragons and the Keller Indians. Due to lightning in the area, the game was called on a weather delay and postponed until Friday at 2 pm where the Dragons and Indians will battle it out to see who can escape week six of Texas High School football unscathed.

Southlake Carroll Dragons (5-0)

Southlake Carroll is known as a dominant force in Texas high school football, because of this no one ever counts them out- even after losing Quinn Ewers in the summer. However, quarterback Kaden Anderson has proven that he can step into the role and fill the cleats nicely. Anderson has thrown for over 1,110 yards with 11 touchdowns this season completing 60% of his passes while also rushing for two scores on the ground on 114 rushing yards.

Southlake Carroll also has strong receivers on their squad. On one hand there is Landon Samson who has caught seven touchdown passes for 433 yards while RJ Maryland isn't far behind with 343 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 18 catches. Leading on the ground for the Dragons is Owen Allen who has accounted for 12 Dragon touchdowns. Allen has tallied 822 yards on 103 carries- over four times the amount of carriers than the rest of his team.

Keller Indians (5-0)

Keller enters week six after a strong start to their season, but they are ultimately the underdogs in this game. With big wins against Abilene Cooper (39-0), Denton Braswell (27-23), L.D. Bell (34-0), North Mesquite (44-10), and Keller Central (41-7) the Indians are looking to prove the naysayers wrong. Averaging 37 points a game. Tre Guerra has been strong in the pocket for Keller throwing 11 touchdowns with 883 passing yards. Guerra has also accounted for one rushing touchdown on 124 rushing yards.

On the receiving end of Guerra's touchdown passes has been Amarion Henry who has racked up 495 yards and seven touchdowns on 25 catches. There's something to be said about Tre' Griffiths (two touchdowns, 219 rushing yards, 13 catches) and Seth Henry (one touchdown, 153 yards, eight carries). The pair have been incredibly strong against opponents this season. Leading in rushing is Austin Coleman who has rushed for just over 550 yards with seven touchdowns on 83 carries.

What To Expect:

Both teams are strong- both teams want this week six win. Southlake Carroll is going to work hard to prove that they are more than a quarterback- they have spent this season rediscovering just who they are- a championship contender team. Keller is going to work hard to show that they deserve to compete against strong teams like Southlake Carroll. Both teams have high stakes for different reasons. Ultimately it's going to be a really close game and a fight to the finish. Southlake Carroll will likely not trip up this week, but Keller will not go down without an incredible fight.
