RECRUITING: Shadow Creek's Walker picks up offer from UH; expects busy spring

Shadow Creek is still considered one of the new kids on the block in Houston.

Every program has made some sort of history, including the football program winning a state championship in December, and the men's basketball team continued the streak.

The Sharks reached the Region III-5A Final this past weekend for the first time in history. Shadow Creek hadn't been past the second round of the playoffs before this run. One of the big reasons for the run was the play of Ramon Walker.

Shadow Creek ended up falling to Fort Bend Hightower, which has fueled Walker for this offseason as they prepare to move up to Class 6A for the 2020-2021 campaign.

"Feeling that heartbreak that I had when we lost has only motivated me further and has added fuel to the fire," Walker said. "I don't ever want to feel that feeling again and I plan on getting to state next year and winning it all."

Walker entered the season as VYPE's No. 1 prospect for the Class of 2021 and recently picked up his fifth offer from his hometown University of Houston.

"It feels awesome. To have a coach like Coach [Kelvin] Sampson to want you to play for his program is amazing," Walker said. "He is a very tough coach and that's what I like about him and I feel I would fit right in."

As it stands with his junior season behind him, Walker enters this offseason with offers from Texas State, North Texas, Sam Houston State, Texas Southern and the University of Houston.

You can expect more to come for Walker.

"I've been told by my coaches that if I worked my behind off and stayed the course that everything would open up for me and I feel that after the playoffs and the run that we made some offers should come with it," Walker said.

Walker currently doesn't have any unofficial or official visits planned but said that could change as the months pass. The 6-foot-5 wing does have an idea what he's looking for in a program.

"I just want a program that will help me grow as a person and as a player and will help me develop my game," Walker said.
