PREVIEW: Prestonwood Christian football seeking revenge

After a disappointing loss to Parish Episcopal in the TAPPS State Title game last season, Prestonwood Christian Academy's football team is entering the 2023-24 season geared up and ready to seek revenge. In the third spot on the VYPE DFW Private School Preseason Football Rankings, the Lions are going to give everything they have to put up a dominant record this fall!

REWIND

After opening their season on a 28-7 loss in non-district play to Argyle Liberty Christian, the team put their effort toward building back up their strategy. Through the rest of non-district play, the Lions defeated Houston's Second Baptist (31-27), Little Elm (42-41), Fort Worth All Saint's Episcopal School (24-21), and San Antonio's Cornerstone Christian (44-7) to enter district play on a high note.

Through district play, the team defeated Trinity Christian Academy - Addison (39-14), Fort Worth Nolan Catholic (42-7), and Bishop Lynch (57-17); posting their only loss to Parish Episcopal before closing out district play with a 3-1 record and second-place finish. Through the playoffs, Prestonwood Christian Academy defeated St. Pius X (49-0) and Nolan Catholic (56-21) before losing to Parish Episcopal in a state championship appearance.

LOOKING AHEAD

Back on track this season, the Lions open their schedule on the road against Argyle Liberty Christian on Friday, August 25th where they will look to take down the Warriors. From there, the team will take on Second Baptist, Little Elm, All Saints, Cornerstone Christian, and Bishop Dunne for the rest of their non-district schedule.

Opening district play against Trinity Christian Academy - Addison on the road will surely spark fire in the Lions. The team will want to enter district play strong with a victory. Starting off on the right foot will be a key component to keeping this squad moving throughout the season as they face-off against Nolan Catholic, Bishop Lynch, Parish Episcopal, and more. Looking to make it back to playoffs-- possibly back to state- will be one of the factors driving the team this season. Fans should pay attention to athletes like Elijah Knott, Enzo Bingham, Gunner Naivar, Tanner Trout, Jack Simon, Dylan Gravett, Seth Nunnenkamp, Jack Berthelot, Kellen Tasby, Campbell Panetii, Takashi Shaw, and more as they stare down their opponents this fall.
