FINISH LINE: The Woodlands; Peters headline State Cross Country
The UIL Cross Country State Meet wrapped up the season over the weekend.
Flower Mound, Southlake Carroll and The Woodlands went 1, 2, 3, respectively on the girls Class 6A podium. Kingwood girls finished fifth, followed by Klein in sixth and Bridgeland in seventh.
Pearland’s Maddie Peters finished third overall, while Grand Oaks Staucie Lees (6th), Kathryn Koonts (8th) and Felicity Hamilton (9th) placed well coming out of Houston.
Katy Tompkins boys had a fourth-place finish, while Bridgeland’s Benjamin Montgomery finished third overall. College Park was fifth, Bridgeland sixth and The Woodlands was ninth.
Southlake Carroll, Vandegrift and McKinney Boyd took gold, silver and bronze in Class 6A.
The Friendswood boys were the highest Class 5A team with a seventh-place finish. Zade Kayyali was sixth overall.
