Track & Field: Oklahoma-signee Lueking flying high in 2021 for Clear Creek

HOUSTON - Olivia Lueking has done nothing but win.

The Clear Creek senior pole vaulter has won every meet she has pole-vaulted in this season raising her bar height from 13-feet-1 inch to open the season to career-best 14-feet-3 inches a few weeks ago, which is currently No. 1 in Texas and No. 4 in the United States.

At the District 23-24 Area Meet last week, Lueking cleared 13-feet-9 inches to punch her ticket to the Regional Track Meet. With a solid performance this week, the senior is looking to advance to the UIL State Track Meet for the second time in her career. As a sophomore, Lueking went and placed seventh.

The Oklahoma signee also has the opportunity to advance to state in the 300-meter hurdles this week as well after posting a personal-best 42.78 last week at the area meet. That is the ninth-fastest time in the United States and fourth-fastest in Texas. If she advances to state in the hurdles, it would be the first time.

VYPE caught up with Lueking at the VYPE Houston Track & Field Photoshoot back in March. Talked to her about her season, her signing to Oklahoma, and more.
