North Crowley (4-0) kicked off district play with a stellar 47-30 victory over rival Duncanville, putting the Panthers neck-and-neck with Waxahachie (4-0) atop 11-6A. Allen (4-0) also remains unbeaten after handling Prosper, 51-21, while Coppell (3-1) has made its presence felt on the scoreboard, most recently overwhelming Berkner, 42-14.
The path to a district championship won’t be easy for DeSoto (2-2), with the Eagles set to face Lancaster and Cedar Hill in the coming weeks. Still, opening the gauntlet by thwarting Burleson Centennial, 29-3, should give the defending state champs plenty of momentum heading into the stretch.
Southlake Carroll (2-2) remains firmly in the Top 10 after an impressive 35-17 win over Keller Central, handing the Chargers their first loss of the fall and signaling that the Dragons intend to flex their muscle well beyond November.
Guyer, Lewisville, and Lone Star will return from bye weeks and get back into action with crucial district matchups. Meanwhile, Argyle (3-1) climbs the rankings after lighting up the scoreboard against Highland Park, defeating the Scots, 70-37, on Friday night.
The runway is getting shorter, and the room for mistakes is narrowing with it.
