Strake Jesuit climbs back into the rankings
After a sluggish start to the season, Strake Jesuit and Klein Oak have found their rhythm — and their way back into the VYPE Class 6A Top 25.
Under the leadership of RB John Hebert, the Crusaders have caught fire in district play, while Panther quarterback Andre Phillip has powered Klein Oak’s resurgence. Oak’s thrilling victory over Klein last week was an instant classic and cemented their return to the city’s elite.
Elsewhere across Houston, Magnolia bounced back in emphatic fashion, dismantling Top 10 Tomball in a pivotal district showdown. Meanwhile, North Shore continued its dominance over Atascocita, once again claiming bragging rights in the area’s most heated rivalry — and now turns its attention to a massive clash with CE King this week.
In Class 5A, Santa Fe has reentered the conversation with a strong stretch of play, while in the private school ranks, Kinkaid made a statement with a big win over The John Cooper School.
The playoff picture is starting to take shape — and a few familiar names are finding their form just in time.
