2025-26 Yates Girls Basketball
No. 19 -- YATES LIONS
Jack Yates posted a 16-8 record last year, advancing to the Bi-District Round and laying a strong foundation for 2026.
The culture now feels firmly in place for coach Damien Hunter, who steps into his second season with the Lions.
Senior Taniyah Cooper, a versatile post presence and first-team, all-district honoree, continues to serve as the Lions’ tone-setter on the floor. Karneshia Smith, the 2025 District 20-4A Co-Freshman of the Year, returns after leading the team in scoring, while junior guard Hannah Estrada, an honorable mention selection, brings steadiness on both ends.
Much like last winter, the youth movement will remain a driving force. Freshman guard Dakari Hunter adds tenacious defense and playmaking at the point, while fellow freshman Camille Cook stretches the floor with her shooting touch and finishing ability.
Anchored by the mantra “Relentless Pursuit Towards Greatness,” Jack Yates looks to merge veteran leadership with emerging talent as it strives to climb even higher this season....
