THE 411: Sterling Senior Cameron Chin Ready for Big Season
CAMERON CHIN WILL LACE UP HIS RUNNING SHOES FOR THE FINAL TIME THIS SPRING FOR THE STERLING RANGERS.
The Honolulu, Hawaii native is coming off a nice cross country season, where he finished 36th at the District 22-5A meet and advanced to the Region III Championships. Out of the blocks this track season, Chin has already started off nicely – winning the 200-meter dash at the Sam Mosley Relays on Feb. 19 and taking silver at the 409 Relays on Feb. 24.
Chin is also planning on running the 400-meter dash and being a part of the Rangers’ 4x200 and 4x400- meter relay teams.
VYPE caught up with Chin on the track to learn more about the Sterling senior.
VYPE: What do you enjoy about running?
CHIN: I enjoy how competitive it is and being able to run against different people.
VYPE: What are your goals for this track season?
CHIN: My goal for this season is to make it to State and run against the fastest athletes in Texas.
VYPE: What song gets you hyped before a race?
CHIN: Dreams and Nightmares by Meek Mill.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
CHIN: A lot of people inspire me. Like my mom, she is always the loudest in the stands. My coach, because he gives me drive to run my fastest, and my teammate Chandler Beck. He’s always the guy that pushes me in practice and makes me run harder.
